Karen Slawson is a licensed professional counselor with more than 20 years clinical experience in the treatment of various psychological disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She spent 10 years providing psychological diagnosis and treatment for active duty military members, 4 of those years included providing psychological fitness for duty evaluations for Marine Corps recruits.
Ms. Slawson earned a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Webster University and has currently completed all coursework for her PhD, pending completion of her dissertation. She has also worked as a clinical research coordinator for the Department of Veterans Affairs, administering various psychological assessments.
From 2015-2017, Ms. Slawson worked as a Senior Assessment Specialist for a Contract Research Organization where she provided rater training and Central Rating Review/Quality Assurance for a global Parkinson’s Disease Study.
Prior to this position, Ms. Slawson was a clinical rater and sub-investigator on approximately 89 CNS trials in a variety of indications. She has experience conducting almost every CNS rating scale and cognitive rating scale for both adolescents and adults. In addition, Ms. Slawson was the site director and oversaw all responsibilities at the Charleston sites within Segal Institute for Clinical Research.
