Dr. Melissa Vinson is a psychotherapist and former Psychology professor with more than 11 years of clinical experience in the treatment of various psychological disorders including sexual disorders/dysfunctions, schizophrenia, substance abuse, mood disorders, co-occurring disorders, trauma, PTSD, and eating disorders. She has provided treatment and assessments to individuals, couples and families in a variety of settings including non-profit, private practice, academic institutions, and inpatient hospitals. Dr. Vinson has also developed and implemented a wellness program at a major university, authored and implemented psychology curriculum for colleges across the country and most recently developed the curriculum for a sex therapy certification program.
At Segal Institute for Clinical Research, Dr. Vinson is a clinical rater and sub-investigator on numerous research trials in a variety of indications. She has been certified on almost every CNS rating scale by every major rating company. Dr. Vinson is responsible for conducting biopsychosocial and diagnostic interviews to obtain necessary psychiatric history, recruitment of appropriate patient population, cognitive and neuropsychological assessments, behavioral measures, and efficacy rating scales for a variety of children, adolescents and adults in outpatient clinical research trials.
In addition, Dr. Vinson is the rater supervisor and oversees rater responsibilities and ensures inter-rater reliability for all sites within Segal Institute for Clinical Research.
