Marlene Ruiz is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern with over five years of clinical experience providing counseling services to children/adolescents, and adults as well as couples and families. Ms. Ruiz has worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient mental health settings treating various psychological disorders including schizophrenia, PTSD, OCD, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, major depression, ADHD and substance use disorders. She has worked providing TFCBT to refugee children and adolescents with a variety of traumas. Additionally, Ms. Ruiz has experience working with persons with disabilities through the Department of Education as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.

Ms. Ruiz completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology as well as a dual Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling at Florida International University. She has been involved in multiple research projects throughout her training where she has conducted psychological assessments and cognitive testing for individuals across the lifespan with a variety of neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric disorders.

At Segal Trials, Ms. Ruiz is a Clinical Rater on several clinical trials with a variety of indications. She is responsible for conducting diagnostic interviews to obtain pertinent psychiatric history and place patients in appropriate studies. She functions as a cognitive rater in trials for numerous psychiatric and neurologic indications. In addition, she is certified on many cognitive and behavioral scales and is responsible for administering these in outpatient clinical trials in a wide range of populations from children to older adults.
