Feeding Florida

Local food pantries may begin facing shortages as the coronavirus pandemic worsens. Feeding Florida features a way to donate to nonprofits and community-based organizations that provide food and other resources to our most vulnerable populations. Senior Shopping Hours

Grocery stores around Florida have designated a special “Senior Hour” outside of their normal business hours to give those most vulnerable to the virus first access to food and necessities

Publix – Open for shoppers 65+ on Tuesday’s and Wednesdays from 7am-8am

Whole Foods – Open to shoppers 60+ one hour before opening to the general public

Target – Will reserve the first hour of shopping each Wednesday for vulnerable guests

Walmart – Will open one hour early every Tuesday for shoppers 60+

Dollar General – Will dedicated the first hour of each day to seniors

Fresh Market – Will dedicate 8am-9am on Monday through Friday for seniors

Mortgage flexibility

Federal regulators, through the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are ordering lenders to offer homeowners flexibility.
Power companies around Florida, such as Duke Energy, will not disconnect any customer’s service for non-payment, in order to give customers experiencing financial hardship extra time to make payments. Power companies will continue to read meters and send bills. Customers should pay what they can to avoid building up a large balance that will be harder to pay off later.

If you are unable to pay your mortgage due to the COVID-19 pandemic, talk to your mortgage lender about Home Loans Special Payment Forbearance and loan extensions to assist with suspending payments.
