The National Alliance of Mental Illness is among the largest national organizations dedicated to raising awareness about the mental health and wellness of mental illnesses.

This organization was brought together in 1979 by a small group of families. NAMI is now an organization consisting of hundreds of local volunteers, members and supporters, who help raise awareness and provide education and support; something that was not available in the past to those in need.

What are the goals of NAMI?

To educate people in America about mental illnesses, and ensure they get the support and information they need.

To advocate. Shape the national public policy for people with mental illnesses; providing the resources, tools, and skills needed to support those with mental illnesses across all states.

To listen to the patients and their families. Listening to their needs and issues and helping them find a solution.

One of the main goals of NAMI is to lead public awareness activities (NAMIWalks), to help encourage public understanding and support.

Join Segal Institute’s team for the 2015 NAMIWalks Broward County and lets walk together to raise awareness about the need for a world-class treatment and recovery system for people with mental illness.
