Healthy Habits for Your Age

As a woman, your health is very important. This is especially important as you get older. But don’t worry, there are plenty of changes you can make to improve your health! Here are just a few for you to try:

  • Be sure to get preventive screenings and regular checkups: A great way to decrease your risk of disease and illness is to see your health care provider regularly. You should not wait until you get sick. Do it before. As you get older, you should definitely ask your doctor about cancer screenings. Even if you are in your 20’s, asking about prescreens can get you into a good habit of monitoring your heath.
  • Check on your mental health: This is not any easy thing to do. If you are juggling multiple things like family and work, it can be especially difficult to be mindful of your mental health. If you are feeling stressed, try deep breathing, talking it out with someone, or stretching. Try which ever one works for you until you find the one that works best.
  • Seriously eat healthy: You are always hearing about eating healthy, so, you should have made the commitment already, right? Well, giving up comfort foods is not easy. To help, seek out cooking tips, meal plans and recipes that you can use to change your eating regimen. If you are in your 20’s, learning to eat healthy now will better set you up for a healthy lifestyle in the future.
  • Make smart decisions: You should really make decisions that won’t put you or others at harm. You shouldn’t text while you drive, or ride a bike without your helmet. These are dangerous decisions. You can make healthier decisions! Make phone calls and send text messages when you have reached your destination and always take your helmet. You can snap it onto your bike so you never forget it. Also above all else, try to quit smoking. If you don’t smoke, never start!
  • No matter where you are, get active: What if you can work out outside of the gym? Walking the dog for long periods of time, going dancing, , joining small sports teams or clubs, or a cycling class, are all things that you can do that are fun and not as demanding as going to the gym four days out of the week. No matter what your age is, you can make a routine that involves alternative forms of exercise.
